Robbers use bulldozer in theft of ATM

Forget ripping off a person at an ATM -- a group of brazen robbers in Lauderdale Lakes last night took the entire machine.

It happened at a Bank United branch at 3660 West Oakland Park Blvd. The bank is next to a construction site, Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Keyla ConcepciĆ³n said.

BSO was alerted around 7:15 a.m. today, when the owner of a bulldozer said somebody had stolen his equipment and smashed it into the bank. Deputies arrived to find the cash machine missing.

''They took the bulldozer and knocked down the ATM machine,'' ConcepciĆ³n said. ``The detectives are deductively thinking they took the front-loader and used it to put the ATM on their vehicle.''

The FBI is investigating.
